Fun fact: The Manhattan was actually conceived in Des Moines, Iowa! Aw, we’re just messing with you; it was Manhattan. Invented by Dr. Iain Marshall (now, that’s our kind of doctor) in the 1870s, the Manhattan is a staple at Naked and the (dangerous) calling card of Nick.

Recipe

Manhattan

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces top-shelf bourbon or rye

  • ½ ounce sweet vermouth

  • Angostura bitters

  • Orange bitters

  • Maraschino cherries (the good ones, not the cheap candy-red ones)

  • Ice for stirring

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except the cherries in a mixing glass. 

  2. Add large chunks of ice until surface of liquid is just covered. 

  3. Stir until chilled. 

  4. Strain into a chilled martini glass. 

  5. Add cherries. 

  6. Sit back and enjoy, you magnificent son of a bitch!
