Freddie & Hattie's Chicken & Cheddar Dog Biscuits

Freddie & Hattie's Chicken & Cheddar Dog Biscuits

Made by: David

The phrase “work like a dog” is a bit misleading when it comes to Naked’s resident pooches, Freddie and Hattie. (Unless you consider eating, snoozing, playing, barking at delivery people, lap sitting and receiving endless tummy scratches “work.”) After a long, hard day of leisure, Freddie and Hattie like to kick back even further and enjoy this canine comfort food. Whether your dog enjoys them at home or at the office, these biscuit treats are Pavlovian-response delicious.

Recipe

DOG biscuits

Servings: 4 dozen (freeze for optimal storage)

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 12–14 minutes

Total time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chicken, chopped

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour or white whole wheat flour

  • 1 container (150 grams) non-fat plain Greek yogurt

  • ¾ cup water

  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

  • ½ cup finely shredded old cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350˚F.

  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  3. In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients, stirring thoroughly. Batter will be very thick and sticky.

  4. Drop batter by level tablespoons onto baking sheets. (These biscuits spread very little during baking, so you can crowd them together.) Using the back of a spoon, flatten the biscuits slightly.

  5. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, until lightly golden brown.

  6. Cool completely on wire racks. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator or frozen in zip-lock bags. Thaw before serving.

Beverage pairing

While a cold, crisp bowl of tap water is the traditional pairing, your pooch may prefer water straight from the toilet, or perhaps a muddy puddle.

Freddie & Hattie’s tip:

For best karma, save and freeze chicken bits (no skin or bones) that might otherwise go to waste until you stockpile 2 cups’ worth.
